Understanding the Bible: The General Epistles (Discovery Series Booklet)
Technology, fads, and fashions change, but basic human needs do not.
We're not alone with our worries and questions. Mark Strauss introduces seven letters—called general epistles—in the New Testament (James, 1 & 2 Peter, 1, 2, and 3 John, Jude)—called the General Epistles—that address worries and important decisions Christians often face. Though written many years ago, their wisdom on issues of suffering, unfairness, opposition, even discerning what is true, all remain relevant today. Learn who the authors were, their audience's needs, and the important truths that can equip us with wise guidance for living lives of joy, peace, and righteousness.
Mark Strauss, professor of New Testament at Bethel University, specializes in New Testament, Greek, Bible Translation, and Hermeneutics studies. He has written many books and articles, as well as speaking at conferences and teaching video lectures. He and his wife, Roxanne, have three grown children. His purpose is "to serve others in such a way that they can be all that God has called them to be."
