Sacred Rest (Discovery Series Booklet)
Understanding and Practicing the Sabbath.
You cannot be human without rest. When God created mankind, He designed us with the need to rest. It wasn't an option or even a suggestion, it was God's first gift to us. God takes rest so seriously He devoted Adam and Eve's first full day to it and called it Sabbath. In Sacred Rest: God's First Gift, author A.J. Swoboda explores the full meaning of Sabbath. He explores what it means to truly look forward to and partake in a Sabbath without worrying about doing it perfectly.
A.J. Swoboda is associate professor of Bible, Theology and World Christianity at Bushnell University and lead mentor on the Holy Spirit and Leadership for the Doctor of Ministry program at Fuller Theological Seminary. He is the author of many books, including After Doubt (Brazos). He lives and works on an urban farm in Eugene, Oregon.
